“This long distance is killing me…”and “Absence makes the heart grow fonder…” are the two quotes I think of INSTANTLY when I hear the words ‘Long distance realtionship.’
Unfortunately for me the first quote applies the most. Long distance relationships tear me apart! If it were up to me I would have all my friends and family near me at ALL TIMES, is that the case? NO! That hasn’t been the case for what seems like my whole life.
I was born and raised in Esikhawini, a town in KwaZulu-Natal. I then moved to Soweto, Gauging to live with my grandmother when I was a toddler. At this point I spoke only isiZulu (my home language) but after relocating I then learnt and became fluent in seSotho. After pre-school I moved back to KZN to live with my parents and to re-learn isiZulu (lol, I forgot every single word!!). I completed my primary schooling at home and moved back to Johannesburg for my high schooling.
So the moral of the story is I have been in a long distance relationship/friendship my ENTIRE life. I left my loved ones whenever I moved and I made new friends wherever I arrived. But it is through this that I know that distance has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything!!
I believe beyond reasonable doubt that if you are in a mutually beneficial relationship with somebody, anybody, no distance can ever separate you!
I also believe that if you are in a relationship with somebody and distance does separate you, you were probably in a relationship alone. Does that make sense? You were in this all by yourself, dog!
