“Joy is the transport, not the destination” – Bonnie Mbuli

on

This was actually one of Ms Mbuli’s tweets, and I found it to be so full of truth and profound. There’s a scripture in the bible that says “The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” Psalm 28:7.

I felt like Bonnie’s tweet really made the scripture real to me. Ok, let me get personal: a lot of the time I was under the impression that joy is what I’ll only achieve or ‘win’ at the end of my days. I always felt like you have to work hard to get the reward that is joy. I had heard the scripture a few times before and had thought I understood it. Well I had an ‘Aha Moment’, I received an instant revelation. God’s plan is for us to gain strength to be able to deal with everything that life throws our way, is to gain it from the joy that He fills our heart with.

God fills our hearts with joy using the small things that make our lives, the things we take for granted! It could be through those people we take for granted, the events we take for granted and even the things we feel aren’t so important. Don’t expect a divine, magical joy! It’s in all the things you don’t take seriously, let your transport be joy and let’s gooooo!
